A series of similar IPs has been wildly inflating numbers at Algerian military pages for over a week (see Algerian People's National Army). Changing 20k to one million, etc. No sources given, clearly just vandalism. I'm patrolling like ten pages on the topic and have to revert many edits daily - can these be blocked? I have lots of experience in the WP:TW scale of reverting edits, and wish to continue this through WP:PENDING BryceM2001 (talk) 20:40, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

I’m requesting rollback tool to help with vandalism fighting more effectively. I’ve been active in counter-vandalism work and have a good understanding of policies like WP:VAND and WP:AGF. While I’ve made mistakes in the past, I’ve taken the feedback onboard, slowed down, and focused on making more accurate judgements. Rollback would allow me to handle clear vandalism more efficiently without cluttering edit histories. I’m committed to using it responsibly and only for obvious cases of vandalism, leaving more complex issues for discussion or reporting. Thank you for considering my request. I am re-requesting rollback after being denied around the end of December for not being consistent enough in RC patrol to meet the criteria. I understand that now and have come back with hopefully having reverted obvious and blatant vandalism more consistently over the past month. As always, I assume good faith, and when it comes to recent changes, if I see something that I'm not quite sure is vandalism or not, I won't undo it. I am well-versed in the different warning templates and when to use each one, and I know when it is appropriate to report to WP:AIV. Reason for requesting rollback rights I mainly spend my time on Wikipedia correcting non-constructive edits and vandalism, as well as notifying users. The majority of my edits are minor changes or changes to users' talk pages. I'm requesting rollback rights so that I can better use some of the anti-vandalism tools available to me. I am requesting rollback rights because I spend most of my time on Wikipedia reverting vandalism, and I would like to help fight vandals more effectively. Hello, I have been working on counter-vandalism with RedWarn for a while now. Despite my inconsistent and relatively low edit count compared to other requesters, I believe I would be a good fit. I approach CV with the idea that it is better to have somebody with malicious intentions get away with their behavior than it is to accuse an innocent person of Vandalism. I aim for high accuracy over total reverts. I have made mistakes in the past but I am usually quick to notice and fix them. The main reason I am requesting Rollback is to gain experience with the Huggle desktop application. Thank you for the consideration and I look forward to hearing back. I would like to request rollback permission to help combat vandalism, particularly in Nepal-related articles, which I frequently come across while patrolling recent changes. Having rollback rights would allow me to efficiently revert obvious and disruptive edits, improving the quality of affected pages. I always assume good faith and am careful when reviewing edits. If I am uncertain whether an edit is vandalism, I do not revert it. I am also familiar with Wikipedia’s warning templates and know when it is appropriate to report persistent vandals to WP:AIV. Hi. I would like to request the rights to edit certain templates, such as the {{piechart}} template and its associated module, important when its usage increases. I want to have these rights in advance so I can apply fixes when needed. I am already a sysop on pl-wiki and an interface admin on several wikis, including meta-wiki. See more on my page: User:Nux. In real life, I am a library systems programmer with professional experience in WCAG and hold a certificate in web accessibility, which is useful for certain aspects of template development (colors, structure). I also work on gadgets and CI/CD scripts, such as Wikipedia:Wikiploy, which, while less relevant to templates, demonstrates my programming experience — an important skill for working with Lua modules. Oh, I did read the guidelines. I even translated them into Polish; it didn't gain traction on plwiki, but at least now I know them :) Nux (talk) 20:37, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

[edit]On Feb. 12, 2005, I did a random pages survey. Out of 100 random pages, only 1 was a U.S. town. That's progress. Three towns in the UK, 1 in Spain and 1 in Portugal also turned up. Overall biographies were the largest category at 22%, followed by geography with 15% total. Then Lists at 7%, Disambiguation pages at 6%.
On Feb. 24, 2006, I repeated the 100 random page survey, this time getting 5 U.S. towns. Overall, geography had 26%, biography 21%, fiction 9%, music 4%, colleges 4%, lists 3% and disambigs 4%. Clearly geography and biography are our largest areas. Music, science and business scored less than I expected. Non-individual History was hardly discernable.
Even by Feb. 2005, 100 out of almost 500,000 was not statistically significant but was as much as I had patience for.
